"Random" High School Memory...
Is it a comedy? Is it a tragedy? Maybe it’s a comic tragedy, or perhaps a tragic comedy. Looking back would be like Alice sang, “Welcome to my nightmare.”
Of course back then “Schools out forever” seemed like a great plan, until I got hungry. God gave us hunger so we would realize we are dependent upon Him for all we have and all we are to be, so behave. In Jesus Christ is life, new life, real life. I never knew I was dead until Christ made me alive.
To those who knew me as one living the life of the living-dead prior to that day in July 1989, I would like to apologize. But on that day He gave me life. I was dead when out of His mercy, He gave mercy to one who deserved nothing.
I was functionally illiterate in 1989. I could read a little, but not really, and I wanted to read the Bible, but I couldn't get it. I got a big fat dictionary, and a big fat bible, and every word I didn't understand I looked up. Still do that. It took me three years to learn how to read. I was not alone, the Lord taught me how to read. I have approximately 1,000 books in my library today. I have given away about 12 boxes of books over the last couple of years. The books on my shelves are Theology, Philosophy, Law, and History. No fiction, no fluff.
The Prime Directive is to glorify God. The question is, How? But perhaps it's the wrong question. Who? might be a better one-He is Jesus Christ, the Lord, the Word who came and conquered. The One who has ascended to the right hand of the Father. The One who reigns now, and forever, and when His enemies are under His feet, He will come again.
(Ps.2, 110; Isa.65).
